Everyone should have an Ebow - it is an amazing gadget that can create some unique sounds. The Ebow works by creating a magnetic field which vibrates the string for as long as the Ebow is held in place effectively allowing for infinite sustain. The strings are not picked, what you get is a volume swell as the Ebow is brought into place without the pick attack. The sounds produced can be quite synthlike and otherworldly and it works very well with other effects such as delay and wah but the key is to experiment. The Ebow plus has an additional setting which emphasises the higher harmonic to give another tone option.
