Gordon Smith Guitars have been made in Partington just outside Manchester for over 25 years. The guitars are handcrafted by John Smith and his wife Linda and Chris Smith (no relation) and offer superb value for such quality instruments. Everything except the tuners has been designed in house. By sticking to simple designs the production costs are kept down and the end result is a handcrafted guitar for the same price as a factory made one from the big makers. Gordon Smith guitars have a fairly low-tech approach to guitar building often using equipment they have designed to fulfil their own requirements.
Gordon Smith guitars are simple, solid workmanlike guitars that do a great job with the minimum of fuss. Since these guitars are built from scratch options such as left handers, single or double cutaways etc can be accommodated at no extra charge. To customise the guitar to your own spec you can supply your own pickups or hardware ( as long as they are compatible with the body shape). The guitars are usually made of Brazilian Cedar, Spruce or Poplar with Mahogany or Maple necks. Fingerboards are Rosewood or Maple. The humbuckers are always wired to a push pull pot for coiltapping.
