HAYDEN
Hayden is the guitar amp subsidiary of Ashdown Engineering. They construct a range of show-stopping boutique amps with a British pedigree and the fantastic Peacemaker range of value for money amps from China. Their popular Essex Blonde series comprises small low powered combos that can be driven hard at relatively low volumes to capture the sound of the output valves at full tilt. The range is now expanded to include two larger combos and a 100 Watt dual channel head with additional features.
All the UK Hayden designs use the shortest possible signal path from input to outpu, with tone circuit components linked directly to the front panel control pots. All cabinets are made from marine qualitybirch ply with engraved front panels and phenolic knobs

Petit Blonde £325
A single 6V6, a Celestion Tube 10 Speaker, Volume and Tone - what more do you need? If you need the tone of a hand-wired valve amp wherever you go this is the answer. Inspired by the early Hawaiian guitars amps of the 40's you get an amp that can be driven hard at low volume wherever you happen to be.
ESSEX BLONDE 8

A fully specified valve amp in a small convenient package. A single 6V6 output valve through a 12 inch Celestion Vintage 30. The amp has volume, bass, middle, treble and reverb level controls as you might expect but the addition of the Attack control gives added versatility. The Attack control reduces the gain and decreases the dynamic range to make the amp cleaner and more precise giving added versatility. A simple approach - you want overdrive - turn it up! With the added advantage that those smooth articulate overdrive tones are available at low volumes. There is also a built in powersoak so that the speaker can be disconnected and the DI ouput recorded for those late night recording sessions at home. An effects loop is included for optimum placement of effects. If you want a valve amp that you can play at home and record with but is also loud enough for rehearsals and even small gigs then you must consider this
ESSEX BLONDE 15 £769
Taking up where the 8 leaves off the 15 gains a master volume arrangement and a 6 position pickup control to better match the pickups to the amp. To generate the 15 Watts 2 6V6's are used as standard although EL34's, for a classic 70s rock sound, or 6L6's, for a huge clean tone, can be specified. For live use an extension speaker socket is included. The bypass switch on the rear panel allows the amp to be optimised for clean or overdrive sounds. As with the 8 you get a full complement tone controls, an effects loop and a DI out along with the the footswitchable reverb. This is a great amp that responds well to changes in the guitar volume and pick attack with a a surprising amount of clean headroom. It is well worth experimenting with the pickup control to get the best tone from your guitar.
COTTON CLUB BLUES £1599
A 30 Watt combo that provides a healthy dose of classic sounds from glassy clean to growling overdrive. A filter to allow a continuously variable British/US voicing greatly expands the range of tones on offer. The usual complement of treble, middle and bass controls is augmented by a presence control and the master volume can be defeated to enhance the signal path integrity. The 6V6GT driven reverb and the master volume are both footswitchable and the combo offers both high and low gain inputs. A Celestion Vintage 30 12" is driven by the 4 6V6's although these could be specified as 6L6's to increase the power output to over 40 Watts. For extension speaker variable impedance switching is offered.
SPEAKEASY 8-28 £1699
What makes this amp special is the continuously variable class A/Class AB response to customise the tone. This is a 2x12 combo with output power, from the four 6V6s, variable between 8 and 28 Watts so the amp can be used in a variety of applications. All the standard features you would expect are here: 3 band EQ and presence, reverb level, master volume and gain, effects loop and impedance switching.
A new range of Chinese made valve amps with a wide range of tones and a practical set of features:
- Two channel with a rich Class A clean tone and a high gain lead channel which also has a switchable boost setting for extra drive. This effectively gives the classic 3 options of clean, crunch and lead.
- 2 master volumes so that different rhythm and solo levels can be set as well as the individual channel volumes.
- Built in DSP reverb and chorus (only selectable from the footswitch).
- 4 way footswitch supplied for channel, chorus, boost and master volume switching with LED indicators.
- Traditional passive EQ - very interactive can take a little bit of setting up, but some great tones available.
- Additional footswitch sockets for using standard switches.
- Effects loop with return level control.
