THE BEST FROM AROUND THE WORLD
58 Alma Vale Rd, Bristol, BS8 2HS 0117 3307607

T-Rex pedals are handmade in Denmark and have built a reputation as some of the best in the world. The Replica Delay in particular is one of the finest 'analogue' sounding delay pedals available with users such as David Gilmour, Pete Townsend and Carlos Santana. All the pedals come in solid metal casings with easy access battery compartments and have a 9-12V DC in for an external power supply (except for Replica, Roommate and Spindoctor)

REPTILE £189

The Reptile is a delay pedal in true T-Rex style with the same warm tone you have come to expect from the Replica. Up to 1000ms of delay is available and where this pedal comes into its own is with the flutter depth and speed controls which can be added with the other footswitch. At the subtler end of the scale these give the effect of a classic tape echo and at the far end some seriously wild sounds. Whether is sounds just like a vintage tape echo perhaps isnt the point - but it does sound good and the modulation adds an extra dimension to what is already a good quality delay pedal. Handily on the side is an input level control to avoid driving the pedal too hard and getting unwanted distortion.  An added bonus is that the modulation controls light up red when you hit the modulation button!

This pedal will run off a 9V battery but it is recommended that a 9V supply is used as battery life can be a bit short on delay pedals.

SPINDOCTOR  £599

The Spindoctor is a fully programmable valve powered preamp with the added attraction of nice analogue style controls that whizz round to your settings when you change sounds - allowing instant tweaking without any menus! This is a very effective overdrive pedal that copes equally well with subtle breakup to full on saturated distortion.  Essentially there are 4 presets selectable from the 4 footswitches and for each you set the amount of gain, the output level and the tone (bass/mid/treble/presence). The tone is set using one control and 4 buttons to select which EQ band you are controlling.

The Spindoctor is equally at home feeding a guitar amp as a mixing desk - there is a speaker simulated output with additional frequency control to emulate different styles of cab. The unit can feed either a standard combo or head or a power amp - there is a high/low output switch under the unit.  To extend the capabilities even further there is a MIDI input giving access to 127 different presets with straightforward programming. This is a great way to add a huge amount of versatility to your setup with all the warmth and harmonics you expect from a valve unit and it is dead simply to use. Above all else you won't tire of seeing the knobs spin round! The Spindoctor runs of a supplied power supply.

ALBERTA       £110

The Alberta is a warm old fashioned overdrive, reminiscent of a TS808 with that mid boosted sound. A subtle pedal which just brings out a  certain warmth and responds to the nuances of your playing with valve type harmonics. This really gives you classic crunchy rock tones and seems to bring out the best in your amp. Not enough gain here for everyone but what it does, it does really well.

MUDHONEY         £110

This pedal is for your 'wall of sound' in a box - with the boost button in this gives some serious fuzzed out distortion. The Mudhoney has gives your tone plenty of sustain but even at full tilt doesnt lose that all important touch sensitivity. The tone knob has a good useable range which keeps the sound from getting too fizzy with the gain full up.  With the boost button out this is a much more laid back pedal with quite a smooth fairly mild distortion which can be useful for adding an edge to a clean sound.  The level control has up to 15db of boost for driving your amp.

DR SWAMP  £155

The Dr Swamp is effectively two overdrive pedals in one giving you two preset gain levels under your feet. The distortion in this pedal is of the old school, harmonically rich type we all know and love. This covers the full range from mild bluesy drive to full on rock for those power chords and screaming solos. You can switch A or B on or off or switch between the two settings.

MOLLER     £155

A great overdrive pedal with a few added extras: A mix control to allow blending of the distorted and clean signal and a boost switch to allow an additional solo level to be preset. Being able to mix the two signals together enables you to recreate the old studio trick of blending clean and dirty guitars to increase the size and clarity of the track. You can have full on distortion with a hint of clean for increased clarity or a clean tone with just a bit of harmonic warmth in the background to warm the tone. There are a lot of great sounds in this little box and a bit of time with the controls can yield superb results. The Voice button adds another dimension by altering the tonal response which can be useful for pickup matching. Check out Guitarist 283 for a review.

BLOODY MARY       £145

The Bloody Mary is definitely a monster pedal with some real potential for bone crunching distortion. It has a slightly raucous tone giving it quite gritty sounds rather than the smooth and saturated, but this gives it a slightly more aggressive edge than some other pedals on the market and allows it to cut through better at high volume levels. The three tone controls allow for a wide variety of sounds to be dialled in and the 'body' switch provides a very effective boost to the low mids to give a more modern metal sound. Whilst this is never intended to give subtle sounds the lower gain sounds are equally useable and make for a more versatile pedal than you might expect. Check out Guitar Buyer 62 for a review.

TREMSTER      £110

Tremolo definitely seems to be becoming a more popular effect these day s and what better way to get it than with the Tremster. The Tremster has the usual depth, volume, speed controls giving plenty of sonic variations from slow deep pulses to faster shimmering textures. The Mode switch takes you between tremolo and vibrato effects. At the extreme end of the scale this can give you the sound of volume swells. The pedal has some internal drive so that you get the warm harmonics that a valve circuit would give. The volume out is also sufficient to give your amps front edge a nudge if you want a bit of extra drive when the effect comes in.

COMPNOVA      £110

What can you say about a Compressor! Well quite simply this does the job in a natural uncoloured way preserving the clarity of your sound even at high ratios. The controls give a wide range of sounds and can really help clean sounds cut through a mix. If you need a compressor then make sure you audition this one.

REPLICA       £279

The Replica produces some of the best analogue delay sounds around - not bad for a digital pedal! With 4 controls to fine tune the sound (Echo, Level, Repeat and Tempo) to control the wet/dry mix, the delay time, and the number of repeats, your sound will be in here. There is up to 1500ms of delay time available and the unit can be controlled via MIDI (tempo and on off). There is a tap tempo footswitch and a subdivision switch which gives quarter note triplets in conjunction with the tap tempo. The 'Brown' switch filters the echoes for a 50 style tape echo effect but even without the delays are suitably fat and warm. There are two outputs, one direct and one effected so a pseudo stereo effect can be created with two amps.  Not surprising Guitar Player liked it so much. This pedal is true bypass.

The Replica comes with its own 12V power supply but will run off any supply that can give 340mA at 12V.

ROOM-MATE      £240

A true valve powered reverb pedal. In this instance the valve is across the output so that the direct sound also gains the benefit of that valve sound. This is a true stereo pedal but it is also designed to sound great as a mono effect for a guitar combo. This has 4 basic modes: Classic Plate, Warm Hall, Bright Hall and Chorus with Warm reverb. This has all the warmth you would expect from T-Rex and the high cut control can reduce the treble for an even more 'vintage' tone. The direct signal goes direct to the valve and bypasses the 24 bit A/D converters so your basic tone is unaffected. Equally at home on stage or in the studio this is a must have box.

Being valve driven this needs a wall wart (supplied) but can run off any 12V DC supply at 300mA.

VIPER      £205

The Viper is the T-REX take on a Univibe and it gives a wide array of warm swirly sounds. The unit features a mode button to take you from rotating speaker style effects to a more subtle vibrato. The three controls, Depth, Speed, and Level give you plenty of control over the sound for the full range of subtle shimmers to full on psychedelic swirls. There is also a trim pot under the unit to help shape the character of the sound to your personal preference. This comes with its own power supply and needs 12V and therefore doesn't run off batteries.

Michael AngElo Batio Overdrive   £110

This is a great overdrive pedal - no great gain available here just a really full, rich overdrive tone. One of those great pedals that really seems to just enhance your sound - things seem to sound bigger. Whether Michael Angelo's playing is your thing or not you should add this pedal to your list of must try pedals because it sounds that good.

FUEL TANK       £110

The Fuel Tank is a 10 output power supply: 8 9V DC outs with a combined rating of 500mA, one 12V DC rated at 500mA and one 12V AC rated at 500mA. If you have a pedal board, you need a power supply and this is a great compact design that gives you more room for all your toys. The eight 9V outs share a common ground and the two 12V have separate isolated grounds. Comes with 18 black cables for the 9V outs and two red for the 12V outs. Has standard IEC mains cable.

Fuel Tank Juicy Lucy      £110

5 isolated 12V outputs providing 300mA of power in a compact case. Most pedals can take 9-12V (check the input or the instructions) so this can power a huge variety of pedals. There is also a current doubler cable available for anything with serious power needs (600mA). Comes with plenty of cables for most eventualities.

FUEL TANK JUNIOR     £75

Baby brother of the ever popular Fuel Tank  - 5 isolated 9V outputs - useful and small! Can also run 18V effects using two outputs and a voltage doubler cable. Up to 120mA per output. Comes with plenty of cables for most eventualities.
