This guitar features an all steel body with perforated back finished in James classic 'rusty look'. This particular instrument features the imprint of crocodile skin on the front. The neck is tobacco stained maple with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has a 24¾" scale length and a 10" fretboard radius. Pickups are Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro's with covers distressed to match the guitar as is all the hardware including the TonePro's bridge. The headstock has a recessed steel plate that helps increase the sustain. Now the question is - what does all that sound and play like? Playability is great, the right combination of neck shape, radius and frets gives a relaxed feel with effortless string bending and the extra couple of frets increase the versatility. Soundwise this is not as dark as a Les Paul with more of a twang to the sound and better clarity in all three pickup settings. The tone distorts very nicely, the top end clarity making sure things don' t get muddy and there is plenty of sustain. It doesn't sound like a hollow body guitar as you might expect - in fact it doesn't quite sound like anything else which is another reason why these guitars are so popular.
